Kittens v Ice-Skating? No Contest!

We were booked to go ice-skating with our Home Ed group but we recently adopted kittens and felt they were still too young to be left for the amount of time that we would be out of the house. They are about 13 weeks now but very young for their age!
Actually part of the issue is that Nelly is deaf (the reason we adopted her - her brother Noah was a delightful bonus who we felt might make the transition to a new home easier and we didn't want to split up a winning team!) and so when she goes off for a well-earned nap (they are absolutely trashing the house!) we can't find her for hours which is worrying as there is no chance of waking her up so that she will reappear and we can stop worrying that she has fallen down the loo or got out a window etc
So we postponed skating to another day and had a day at VegaNation HQ..!

We packed today's parcels and the children came and did their maths while we did that and had a nose through the stock cupboard at the same time (Sarah! It is supposed to be LOCKED!!!) ...I think pocket money is a tough one to get right for vegan children...when I was a child and had pocket money, even though I got less than most of my friends I could still afford a Britains 'farm' animal or quite a lot of sweets like Black Jacks (remember them? what a shame they aren't vegan..), fizz gongs, foam bananas etc etc but because, in general, vegan sweets are more expensive than their grisly animal cartilage counterparts, our children have to save up 3 weeks' pocket-money to afford a chocolate bar which seems a bit...out of proportion? But in order to give them the equivalent spending power that we had we would need to give them megabucks each week which seems wrong for children aged 4, 7 and 8...?
Anyway they were feeling flush and Fin and Mouse each bought an Organica White Choc bar and Pony treated herself to a lipsalve which she is thrilled to bits with! A pleasure doing business with you!
After all the bargaining and haggling we walked up the road in a very strong wind to post parcels and than came back and had hot chocolate with marshmallows on top!
The mug is a souvenir from our hunt-sabbing days and the marshmallows? We just 'quality-controlled'(!) another pack...but there are still a few packs available from our shop!
